View the America East Conference Week 5 Award Winners

Wuilito Fernandes, a freshman from Praia, Cape Verde, was named the America East Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the Conference announced Monday afternoon.
 
Fernandes scored an insurance goal in UMass Lowell's 2-0 victory at Sacred Heart Saturday. In the 75^th minute, he took a pass from junior F Homero Morais (Somerville, Mass.) just inside the top left corner of the box and curled a shot into the top right 90 to ensure the win.
 
With the win, UMass Lowell improved to 2-7-0 in its first season in NCAA Division I and the America East Conference. Following Tuesday night's clash at Hartwick (7:00), the River Hawks open AEC play Saturday at 1:00 at home against New Hampshire.
 
After missing the first four matches of the season, Fernandes has three goals in five appearances. He is the first UMass Lowell athlete to receive an AEC weekly honor.
 
Fernandes is the son of Anna Paula Tavares Robinson of Boston and Anastacio Moreno Fernandes of Praia, Cape Verde.
