The UMass Lowell bats came to life in a 13-4 win over Bloomfield College on Friday night in Lantana, Fla.
UMass Lowell is back in action on Saturday morning when they will face Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. (11:00).
Led by three hits from senior outfielder 
Pat Devlin (Tewksbury, Mass.) and three more from sophomore infielder 
Sam Johnson (Wakefield, RI), the River Hawks knocked out 15 total hits and scored 13 runs, highlighted by a five run sixth.
Trailing 3-0 after the top of the third, UMass Lowell responded with RBI singles by freshman first baseman 
Matt Mottola (Newburyport, Mass.), Johnson and sophomore infielder 
Matt Sanchez (Sunrise, Fla.) to knot the game at three after as many innings.
UMass Lowell went on to score 10 unanswered runs, highlighted by a five run sixth inning led by a two-RBI single by sophomore outfielder 
Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.).
Bloomfield was able to add a run in the top of the ninth, but couldn't muster any more than that.
Sophomore 
Christian Lavoie (Hopkinton, Mass) picked up the win for the River Hawks. The righty allowed three runs through the first three innings, but settled down after that, holding Bloomfield scoreless through his final four frames. Lavoie allowed three runs on three hits and picked up seven strikeouts in the decision.
David Martinez suffered the loss for Bloomfield. Martinez struggled through two and two thirds innings, as he allowed five runs on four hits. However, only three of his five runs were earned.
