UMass Lowell Earns Victory Over Hillsdale, 10-3

Timely offense and solid pitching helped UMass Lowell gain a 10-3 victory over Hillsdale on Friday night.

Box Score Sophomore Geoff DeGroot (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) had a second inning RBI single as a part of a seven run output for the River Hawks in a 10-3 win over Hillsdale on Friday night.
 
With the win, UMass Lowell improves to 11-5 on the season. The River Hawks will play a double-header with AIC tomorrow (12:00, 3:00).
 
The loss puts Hillsdale at 6-4 on the year.
 
UMass Lowell held a slim, 4-2 heading into the top of the sixth inning, but would extend the lead to 7-2 by innings end.
 
Sophomore Pat Parker (Merrimack, N.H.) opened the inning with a double to left and scored three batters later after an RBI single by sophomore Matthew Sanchez (Sunrise, Fla.).
 
Senior James Katsiroubas (Milton, Mass.) added a 2 RBI single to extend the lead to five.
 
UMass Lowell had five players with multi-hit games. Parker totaled four hits on the night while DeGroot had three hits. Katsiroubas, Sanchez and sophomore Jimmy Ricoy (Lowell, Mass.) each had two hit nights.
 
Hillsdale answered back with a run in the home half of the sixth to cut the lead to 7-3, but could draw no closer than that.
 
Sophomore Shane Beauchemin (Manchester, N.H.) earned the victory for the River Hawks. The right-hander tossed seven innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on 10 hits. Beauchemin also notched six strikeouts.
 
Freshman Jordan Del Sol (Elizabeth, NJ) and Geoff Fisher (Londonderry, N.H.) each tossed scoreless innings of relief.
 
Shane Armstrong took the loss for the Chargers. The sophomore struggled through five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out three.
