UMass Lowell Athletics will be one of several university departments and clubs which will take part in the annual Bowling for Wishes effort Monday, Feb. 18 from 3:30-5:30 at the Brunswick Lanes.

All proceeds from the effort will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation as teams obtain pledges and donations in a friendly competition. Prizes are awarded to the team that raises the most money as well as the team with the highest score.

Behind its 17 women's and men's teams, UMass Lowell raised more than $3,500 last year as the field hockey team led the way with $792. The rowing team generated $446 and the track and field/cross country teams raised $445 to lead the fundraising effort.

The ice hockey team, with an average of 141, posted the highest score while the men's soccer team (127) finished second and the rowing team (120) third.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the primary charity for UMass Lowell Athletics.
