UMass Lowell's Second Annual Dream of Perfect Games Celebration of Sport will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 (6:00) at the University's Inn & Conference Center. This unique event will honor athletic excellence as well as individuals or groups that have used the power and appeal of sports to improve lives and strengthen communities.
This year's event will feature the presentation of the James T. Smith Award (“the Smitty”), awarded posthumously to
Gary Mucica for lifetime achievements. The University's Golf Coach and Director of the Management Graduate Programs, Mucica lost a short battle to cancer in July.
The evening will also include the presentation of the Family Lew Community Impact Award, Champions of Sports Awards, the presentation of endowed scholarships, and the induction of four individuals into the UMass Lowell Athletic Hall of Fame.

The recipients of the Family Lew Community Impact Award will be
Steve Kelley '71 and
Billy Robertson '82, who have spent the majority of their careers as the Executive Director and Director of Operations, respectively, of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence.
Additionally, UMass Lowell will present its Champion of Sports awards to
Ed Scollan '76, the highly successful boys basketball coach and educator at Westford Academy; and Dr.
Sheri Russell '87, a doctor of Chiropractic medicine, former team owner and advocate of women's athletics.
The evening will include excellent food stations, live music, enjoyable video tributes, and engaging presentations. All proceeds will support the UMass Lowell Athletic Scholarship Fund.
