Jennifer Yee is taking this whole “student of the game” thing to a new level.
The offensive catalyst, once again, for the host side at the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Tournament at Softball City, the second-baseman from North Delta is in grad school at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, studying mechanical engineering.
That's the long hand. The short is that she's based out of the school's famed Baseball Research Center, trying to build better bats.
It seems that she already has a job lined up, since Combat, a sporting goods company with offices in both Kent, Wash., and Ottawa, sponsored her thesis. She hopes to complete her two years of studies at UMass-Lowell by Christmas.
