Senior pitcher
Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Tuesday after she led the UMass Lowell softball team to a 4-1 clip at the Catawba Invitational Feb. 24-26 in Salisbury, N.C.
Boris batted .538 (7-13) with five RBI, five runs and two home runs in a 4-1 week. UMass Lowell scored victories over East Stroudsburg (14-2), Shippensburg (4-1), Goldey-Beacom (11-1) and Wayne (Mich.) State (7-2) and suffered a 10-2 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne.
In the opener against East Stroudsburg, Boris went 2 for 2 with two runs, two RBI and a home run. After going 0 for 3 with a run in the 4-1 win over Shippensburg, she batted 1-2 with a walk in the loss to Lenoir-Rhyne.
Boris capped the week hitting 1-3 with one RBI in the win over Goldey-Beacom; and 3-3 with a solo home run and two runs in the win over Wayne State.
Also cited to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll for her pitching, Boris registered three victories and opened the 2012 season with a three-hit win over Shippensburg in which she yielded four walks and one earned run while striking out four.
She followed with a one-hit victory with one earned run, one walk and three strikeouts in the win over Goldey-Beacom; and seven hits, two earned runs, two walks and four strikeouts in the win over Wayne State.
Boris currently leads NE-10 batters in batting (.538), slugging (1.000) and RBI (five) as well as pitching wins (three).

Aly Greene (Tewksbury, Mass.) was also named to the Honor Roll as she batted .333 with four runs, four hits (singles) and two walks. She highlighted the week with 1-2 effort (walk) in the loss to Lenoir-Rhyne; and a 2-4 showing with two runs and a stolen base in the win over Goldey-Beacom.
UMass Lowell opens its Spring Break trip Friday with a 3:00 clash against Lock Haven.
