LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell Softball Head Coach Jen Starek has announced the addition of
Brittany McNulla as the River Hawks' newest assistant coach. McNulla previously served as an assistant coach at New Haven for two seasons.
"I am super excited to be able to have Britt join our staff," said Starek. "I have worked with Britt before, and she will add a lot of depth to our staff."
McNulla served as an assistant coach on Starek's staff at New Haven from 2018-20. In her first season in 2019, she helped coach the Chargers to the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament and an appearance in the NCAA East Region Championship Tournament. Off the field, McNulla managed compliance and eligibility for the Chargers, in addition to coordinating team travel and recruiting.
"I am so excited to be part of River Hawk Nation and back in college athletics," stated McNulla. "After being away from the game for a few years, I'm thrilled to have this opportunity. There are so many great things happening at UMass Lowell and I can't wait to get started with the team."
Returning to collegiate coaching for the first time since 2020, McNulla spent the last five years as an auditor at a large accounting firm. Prior to arriving at New Haven, she was the head coach of the East Coast Firecrackers travel team from 2016-2018.
As a Division I student-athlete, McNulla was a member of the softball teams at the University of Virginia and Central Connecticut State. McNulla started all 51 games she played in as a freshman at UVA in 2015. She then started in 129 games from the 2016-2018 seasons at CCSU, leading the team with 40 hits, 32 RBI and a .325 batting average in 2017.
McNulla graduated from CCSU in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and was a three-time Traveler's All-Academic Team member. She then completed her MBA at New Haven in 2020.
