Box Score Senior G Ahmad Harris compiled 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as No. 5 Bloomfield College defeated No. 4 UMass Lowell, 81-83, Saturday night in the NCAA Tournament East Regional first round at Assumption College's Laska Gymnasium.
With the loss, UMass Lowell ends its season with a 19-11 record while Bloomfield (25-7) moves on to face No. 1 seed Franklin Pierce Sunday night at 7:30 in the semifinal. Franklin Pierce defeated No. 8 Philadelphia, 59-58.
In other games, No. 2 Stonehill was a 65-61 winner over No. 7 District of Columbia while No. 3 Adelphi staved off No. 6 C.W. Post, 66-65. Stonehill and Adelphi meet Sunday at 5:00.

Harris converted 13 of 15 free throws while senior F Matt Wafula added 19 points and nine rebounds while shooting 7-13 from the floor. Sophomore G Terry Hicks also had 19 points along with five rebounds while shooting 6-9 from the floor. Freshman G Marvin Williams had 15 points and seven rebounds.
Bloomfield outscored UMass Lowell 31-16 at the free throw line and also enjoyed a 20-13 edge on second chances, the result of a 15-12 difference on the offensive glass.
The Deacons were also on target, shooting .483 from the floor and .560 in the second half (14-25). UMass Lowell shot .435 overall and .459 in the second half (17-37).
Leading 45-38 shortly into the second half, Bloomfield went on a 15-3 run to post a 60-41 cushion with 15:22 left to play. Harris had six points in the run while Wafula added four.
Bloomfield held a 19-point lead (70-51) midway through the second half, but UMass Lowell chipped away through its full court press and used a 20-8 run to trim the Deacons lead to 78-71 with 4:23 to play.
Williams led the run with eight points while Singh added five.
The River Hawks cut the lead to six (81-75) with 3:22 remaining, but layups from Hicks and Wafula kept UMass Lowell at a distance.
In the first half, Bloomfield led 20-19 midway through and used a 16-4 spurt to grab a 36-23 cushion lead with 4:10 left. Williams scored five points in the run while junior F Jon Bradley added a conventional 3-point play.
Bloomfield led at the break 43-34.
