 UMass Lowell men’s soccer junior midfielder Guilherme Rodrigues (Lowell, Mass.) has been named the River Hawk of the Week.

Rodrigues played a pivotal role in the team’s 3-2 thrilling overtime victory against Bryant on September 23. The junior drew a foul leading to game-tying penalty shot in the 86th minute, that was converted by Carlos Ruiz (East Boston, Mass.). He then scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute on a rocket from 20-yards out.

The victory helped the River Hawks cap off a four-game homestand going 3-1, and winning the last two contests.

Rodrigues is second on the team with three points, tallying one goal and one assist so far this season.

The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.

UMass Lowell plays its first road game since Labor Day weekend, taking on Boston University at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30.
