Junior guard Akeem Williams (Brockton, Mass.) was named UMass Lowell’s Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week Wednesday after leading the men’s basketball team to victories over Stonehill (75-55), Merrimack (100-73) and St. Anselm (91-88).
Last Wednesday evening Williams compiled 17 points, four assist and three rebounds in the win over Stonehill. On Saturday afternoon, Williams scored 13 points, eight assist and five rebounds in the victory over Merrimack. At Saint Anselm Tuesday night he led the River Hawks with 31 points, with three assists and five rebounds.
Williams averaged 20.3 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds per a game last week. For the season Williams is averaging 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds per a game.
He is third in the NE-10 in scoring.
Williams is the son of Shirly and Orson Williams of Brockton, Mass.
