LOWELL, Mass. – Tying a UMass Lowell field hockey Division I record with her performance in a 5-1 win at New Hampshire on September 25, freshman Meike Vischer (The Hague, Netherlands) has been named River Hawk of the Week.
The River Hawks traveled to UNH on Sunday afternoon and scored five unanswered goals, including three in the first quarter. Vischer tallied three assists in that outing to match a DI program record first set in 2018.
Vischer earned her first assist in the seventh minute, stickhandling past two defenders and sending a ball towards the cage for the final touch on the team’s second goal of the outing. She would add another helper just a minute later on a corner attempt before knocking a ball away from two defenders to set up her squad’s final tally in the 40th minute.
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
