UMass Lowell softball junior pitcher Lovina Capria (Deltona, Fla.) has been named the first America East Pitcher of the Week for the 2020 season, as well as River Hawk of the Week.

Capria started the season, 2-0, last week for the first time in her career. She also boasted a 3.27 ERA and seven strikeouts in 15 innings pitched at the Houston Invitational during opening weekend. This marks her fourth career Pitcher of the Week nod.

In her season debut, she led the River Hawks to an exciting, 9-8 victory against Fordham with just four earned runs and five strikeouts.

The following day, Capria held strong in the circle, as UMass Lowell came from behind for a 7-4 win in extra innings against Houston. In that outing, she held the Cougars without a run in the eighth to help her team seal the decision.
