Redshirt-senior Jahad Thomas (Williamsport, Pa.) closed out his collegiate basketball career with one final River Hawk of the Week nod, as announced by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications office on Tuesday.

The guard/forward averaged 29.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, as the River Hawks’ finished the 2017-18 season with two games last week. Â

Thomas started the week with an impressive, 40-point performance to lead his squad to a 92-77 victory in the regular-season finale at New Hampshire on February 27. His 40 points not only set a Division I record for UMass Lowell and a season high in the America East, but also marked the most points in a single game for the River Hawks since Nov. 29, 1981 (John Paganetti vs. N.H. College, 46).

He then recorded his 10th double-double this season, logging a game-high 18 points and 16 rebounds in the America East Championship Quarterfinals at UMBC on March 3.

Thomas finished the season with a conference-high 21.1 points per game, in addition to ranking 27th in the nation for scoring.

The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
