Teylan-Cashman joined the UMass Lowell community in August 2021 as a counseling clinician and social justice coordinator before moving to athletics to serve as the assistant director for student-athlete counseling services in March of 2023. In her role, Teylan-Cashman is responsible for coordinating and providing individual therapy, group programming and clinical resources to student-athletes.
Prior to moving to athletics, Teylan-Cashman was a counseling clinician for UMass Lowell Counseling Services, providing individual and group therapy to the student population. She also conducted staff training related to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice initiatives. In her time at UMass Lowell, Teylan-Cashman has utilized various clinical strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and strength-based approaches, in order to empower her clients and foster improvement.
Before joining the UMass Lowell family, she served as a clinician at The Home in Walpole, where she primarily conducted individual, family, and group therapy sessions (ages 13-18). She was responsible for using trauma-informed therapy and therapeutic crisis intervention techniques with her clients, and worked closely with state agencies like the DCF, DMH, DYS and the Massachusetts State Justice System.
Teylan-Cashman received her master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology from Assumption University in 2019. While at Assumption, she collaborated with faculty members at the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, analyzing data collection and coding, interpreting results for clinically significant findings and conducting research projects.
Teylan-Cashman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Assumption University in 2017. She has remained close to her alma mater and is also the head coach of the dance team there.
