Matt Delmonte

Matt Delmonte joined the River Hawks in July 2017 and was promoted to his current position, Associate Athletic Director for Facilities & Event Management, in September 2025.

Matt’s key responsibilities are event management for the River Hawks athletic teams and facility maintenance for all teams.  Delmonte also works with the university facilities department and external contractors to ensure the facilities are in proper condition.  This led to his role overseeing renovations and capital projects for the athletics department; the latest being the renovated Wicked Blue Field, home of the River Hawk women’s field hockey program.

Matt’s other responsibilities include overseeing the hiring and management of student-employees that include event personnel and building supervisors, direct supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of Athletic Operations, sport administrator of the softball program, and the primary contact for all home events.  This enables him to work closely with support staff, visiting teams, and officials.  He also serves as the UMass Lowell representative on the America East Championships and Competition Committee.

Prior to being promoted to his current position, Delmonte served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Events and Operations as well as Director of Athletic Operations. In these positions, Delmonte provided oversight for scheduling of the athletic facilities and events, student employees, secondary contact for event management, and assisted in overseeing the equipment operations.

Delmonte first joined UMass Lowell in July 2017, where he served as the Team Services Manager. In this role, he oversaw the equipment operations for all sports, as well as handled the receiving, inventorying, distributing, and storing of equipment. Delmonte was responsible for hiring, scheduling, and supervising student workers to assist with athletic laundry on a regular basis. Additionally, Matt was the event manager at assigned intercollegiate athletic events. It was his responsibility to oversee travel arrangements for all programs and being the primary contact for all transportation needs.

Before coming back to UMass Lowell, Delmonte interned with the University of Connecticut (UConn) athletics department, where he worked in the Facility, Events and Operations department. He had previously completed an internship with the UMass Lowell prior to his time at UConn.

A native of Methuen, Mass, Delmonte earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management (’15), and his Masters of Education in Athletic Administration (’17) from Springfield College.
