Kayla Chan

Chan enters year one at Lowell in 2026 after spending nearly two years as an Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director at Boston University Academy. While there, she was responsible for overseeing eight high school sports teams: soccer, cross country, basketball, fencing, volleyball, crew, tennis, and ultimate frisbee. Alongside her individual team responsibilities, she also integrated baseline concussion testing into the school’s concussion protocol, coordinated with the Director of Operations to update health and safety protocols for the entire school, and designed and assisted in the execution of a new athletic training room. Lastly, she was also involved with the hiring of coaches, budget, scheduling, uniforms, and inventory for the athletic department.

Prior to her time at Boston University Academy, Chan spent two summers working at Woodward West as an assistant athletic trainer, overseeing the care of extreme sports athletes. While there, she evaluated and responded to injuries to athletes aged 7-17 years old. She also assisted with overseeing athletic training students in the athletic training room, running through simulated emergencies, and evaluating progress.

Chan earned her bachelor’s in education with specialization in sports medicine from Bowling Green State University in 2022 before earning her master’s in athletic training from California State University, Fullerton in 2024. While at Bowling Green State, she was also a gymnast who competed for the university at the Division I level.
