Kevin Cronin

Cronin joined the UMass Lowell Athletics department as a Head Sport Performance Coach in September of 2019 where he will directly oversee the strength and conditioning programs for Ice Hockey and Women’s Soccer. Cronin joins the athletics staff after a summer stint with Mike Boyle's Strength and Conditioning in Woburn, Mass.
 
Prior to Mike Boyle's Strength and Conditioning, Cronin spent seven years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Colorado College.  At Colorado College Cronin oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for all 17 varsity sports and 350 student athletes. In his time at Colorado College the department saw 295 First Team All-Conference Selections spread out among Division I and Division III conferences.  Along with 69 student athletes receiving season-end conference honors, 115 west regional selections, 20 Honorable Mention All Americans, 25 All Americans and 5 CoSIDA Academic All Americans.  Along with 19 NCAA Post Season Appearances (team sports), 12 Individual NCAA Post Season Appearances, and 14 Conference Team Championships. Since 2012, Swimming and Diving celebrated 51 SCAC Conference Champions (40 individual events and 11 relays) and XCountry and Track and Field celebrated 27 SCAC Individual Conference Champions.
 
Since 2011, Cronin has directly trained 31 Colorado College Alumni who currently or formally play professional Hockey, five of which have played in the NHL (Stanley Cup Champion Jaden Schwartz - St Louis Blues , Jaccob Slavin - Carolina Hurricanes, Gustav Olofsson – Minnesota Wild, Matt Zaba - New York Rangers, and Bill Sweatt - Vancouver Canucks). Cronin has also directly trained three NWSL Professional Soccer Players two of which were drafted (Jessica Ayers and Lauren Milliet).
 
Prior to Colorado College, Cronin served as Assistant Strength Coach, Performance Center Coordinator, and Education Coordinator for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) along with stints at Western Washington University, Stanford University and the University of Texas.
 
Cronin holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University along with a Master’s Degree in Human Movement and Performance from Western Washington University.  Cronin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with distinction from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) along with being a United States Weightlifting Level 1 sport Performance Coach.  Cronin is also Functional Movement Screen Certified.
 
Cronin, a native of Santa Cruz, Calif., currently resides in South Boston, Mass. with his wife, Ashley, and their dog, Brynn.
