Rachel MacCheyne enters her fourth year at UMass Lowell heading into the 2022 season. MacCheyne comes to River Hawk nation, as a graduate from Niagara University, earning her bachelor's degree in mathematics and actuarial science. In the 2019 season, MacCheyne capped off a record-breaking career as a Purple Eagle, including a nomination for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

She departs as the program's all-time leader in goals (187), a mark she set by scoring the 62nd goal of her senior season, a new Niagara single-season high. She also holds the team career records for points (237) and draw controls (316), as well as each of the top three single-season records for goals and points, and two of the top three single-season records for draw controls. In the spring of 2019, MacCheyne won 9.00 draw controls per game, the 10th-best average in Division I history.

MacCheyne became Niagara's first-ever representative in the IWLCA DI Senior All-Star Game, where she scored one goal and added an assist. Following a standout 2018 season as a junior, she was named to the IWLCA West/Midwest All-Region Second Team, another program first for Niagara. MacCheyne is a three-time All-MAAC First Team Attack selection as well as a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree.

Not just a powerhouse for the Purple Eagles offense, MacCheyne also brings technical coaching skills to the table, as she most coached the Common Goal Lacrosse Club 2022 out of Rochester, N.Y. MacCheyne also brings experience from other coaching stints at the University of Maryland Lacrosse Camp and the 2019 U.S Lacrosse National Tournament, where she worked with the WNY Rochester squad.
