Lumba joined the UMass Lowell staff as a Sports Performance Graduate Fellow Coach in August 2020 and currently works with the women's basketball and field hockey programs. In his time at UMass Lowell, Lumba introduced the use of Firstbeat Heart Rate Technology to help monitor physiological stress levels and develop individualized training programs for his athletes. Additionally, Lumba conducted yoga sessions for both staff and players since joining the River Hawks.

Lumba is a CSCCa Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCCC), NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and United States Weightlifting Level 1 Weightlifting Coach. He also holds multiple certifications including Yoga Alliance RYT-200 HR Yoga certification and American Red Cross First Aid Certification and CPR/AED Certifications.

Lumba graduated from Temple University in 2020 and obtained his master’s in Exercise Science from Merrimack College in 2021.
