UMass Lowell Athletics

Former River Hawk, Sima Suon rejoined the UMass Lowell family as the Academics and Compliance Assistant in the fall of 2018. Promoted to Athletic Academic Coordinator in the fall of 2019, Suon oversees women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse and softball.  Beloved by the UML community, Suon was voted as the Unsung Hero of the department by the student-athletes at the 2019 Rowdys.  Born and raised in Lowell, Mass., Suon was a student-athlete on the track and field team competing in the javelin – capturing the America East crown two times in addition to two all conference finishes.
 
She returned to the region after spending a year at University of Miami in the Athletic Academic Services office while pursuing her Masters of Science in Education & Sport Administration.  She also served as a graduate assistant with the women’s basketball program.  She completed her bachelor's degree in psychology.

In addition to her work supporting student-athletes, Suon is a member of the USA Cambodia Basketball Association and represented Cambodia as a player-coach at the 2022 Southeast Asia Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
