Lauren Trapasso was promoted to the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Enrichment to enhance the department’s commitment to serving student-athletes with diversified learning backgrounds.  She serves as the primary liaison to multiple offices on campus including the Center’s for Learning and the Disability Services Office, as well as working as an academic coordinator to advise men’s basketball and soccer. Trapasso developed the Student-Athlete Academic Center’s instructional assistance program, along with the tutoring program from the ground up at the start of the University’s transition to Division 1. She also coordinates assistive technology and individualized learning plans for student-athletes who experience various barriers to learning including sports injuries and learning disabilities. 
 
Trapasso helped develop and create the Student-Athlete Development program that runs during the summer school sessions.  This program is designed to provide all student-athletes a comprehensive and holistic educational opportunity that focus on identifying and building personal strengths, leadership, teamwork, self-advocacy and career development. Trapasso has also partnered with the UMass Lowell Student Conduct Office in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Development program, to build sexual assault violence education prevention training for all student-athletes. Trapasso is a certified Step Up facilitator as well. StepUp is an NCAA sponsored initiative that teaches and empowers student-athletes to use their platform on campus to be an active bystander, making their campus and community safer.                                  
 
Trapasso joined the UMass Lowell Academic Services Team in August 2014 a after three years assisting in coordination of Developmental Instruction and Disability Services at Boston College where she worked with football, basketball, soccer and softball. In addition, she served as a Peer Advisor Coordinator at the Boston College Carroll School of Management, a program that created learning opportunities for students in career development. Trapasso earned her Master of Arts degree in Applied Developmental Education Psychology from the Boston College Lynch School of Education. In 2016, she received a Certified Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Special Education from Assumption College. The Worcester native earned a Dual Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Philosophy and received Magna Cum Laude honors from Assumption College in 2011.
 
Trapasso currently resided in Dracut, Mass. and makes the best snickerdoodle in the greater Merrimack Valley. Lastly, on campus Trapasso’s nickname is “LT”.
