Hailey Westover

Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance Lainie Williams is pleased to introduce Hailey Westover, who will join the River Hawk staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Westover will serve as the athletic trainer for the River Hawk men's soccer and softball teams.

"I'm thrilled to have Hailey join the Athletic Healthcare Staff. She is a well-rounded individual who will bring a new perspective to our staff and department," said Williams.

Westover comes to the Mill City with two years of experience at four notable universities. At her most recent stop, Tufts University, she dedicated her time to the men's lacrosse team, as well as the men's and women's swimming and diving programs, while finishing up her master's degree. Westover evaluated and tended to the athletes' injuries at events and provided rehabilitation services. When not caring for an athlete, Westover completed administrative duties, such as documenting notes and updating records.

"I am super excited to become a part of UMass Lowell's athletic staff and to have a role in ensuring the success of our teams," said Westover.

Before Tufts, Westover spent several months during 2023 at Buffalo State University, working with women's soccer, men's ice hockey, and men's and women's volleyball. She was tasked with spearheading the design of emergency action plans for general health and mental health emergencies. Westover assisted with preseason evaluations and return to play protocol. She also built rehabilitation plans for athletes both pre/post operation and non-operative.

Westover spent the other half of 2023 at the University of Buffalo with the men's basketball and men's tennis programs. Here she assessed non-orthopedic conditions and administered manual therapy techniques, such as cupping and joint mobilizations.

In 2022, Westover's athletic training journey had begun at D'Youville University. She was assigned to the women's volleyball, softball, women's lacrosse, and cross country teams, conducting baseline concussion screenings and performing rehabilitation methods for the athletes.

Westover earned her master's degree in athletic training from SUNY Buffalo in 2024 and her bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport in 2021, where she studied exercise science.

Westover is a board certified athletic trainer and holds her Massachusetts Athletic Training license.
