Matt Balter

Balter enters his second season on Coach Ed Stephenson's staff, working with the River Hawks crease attackmen and goalies.

Before re-joining the program, Balter served as the Portsmouth High School (N.H.) Offensive Coordinator in 2019, helping the team to a Div. II State semifinal appearance.

A Albany, N.Y. native, Balter played 53 career games for the River Hawks, registering 74 points, which included 61 career goals and 13 career assists. He notched two 20-goal seasons and was an America East All-Conference Second-Team selection in his senior year. He amassed a career-high 28 goals in his final season and helped the team to a program record eight victories, three America East wins and the first-ever America East playoff berth in the spring of 2018. His 61 career goals rank tied for third in the DI era and his 74 points rank fifth in DI team history. Balter earned the Chancellor's Award in the spring of 2018, earning the highest GPA in the Francis College of Engineering. He also volunteered as the River Hawks' Team IMPACT liaison and did extensive work with the Albany Police Athletic League.

He graduated from UMass Lowell in May of 2018 with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
