Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance Marcus Williams has announced the addition of Head Sports Performance Coach Schuyler Harting ahead of the 2025-26 season. Harting comes to UMass Lowell with eight years of experience under his belt, most recently serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Dartmouth College.Â
"Schuyler has been a great addition to our sports performance team," said Williams. "He carries a vast amount of experience in collegiate strength and conditioning, and he will make an immediate impact on River Hawk athletics."
In his six years at Dartmouth, Harting oversaw the men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, baseball, and golf programs. With those teams, he was responsible for collecting and interpreting GPS data for both hockey teams, as well as conducting force plate (VALD) testing for his teams. Not only did he work with those four programs, but he also played a prominent role as an assistant with the Big Green football program, and he spent multiple years as the lead of men's and women's lacrosse, field hockey, diving, squash, sailing, and equestrian.
"I am incredibly excited to join UMass Lowell Athletics," commented Harting. "It is an honor to work with such dedicated coaches and talented student-athletes. I look forward to contributing to the high-performance culture that has been established here."
Before starting at Dartmouth, Harting spent time at Robert Morris University, spending four months there as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. During his time there, he assisted the head strength and conditioning coach with all daily functions for men's lacrosse and men's ice hockey while also overseeing the men's and women's soccer programs. Alongside working with these teams, he also created and implemented strength programs for injured football athletes.
Also spending time as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of West Georgia and as an intern football strength and conditioning coach at Western Michigan, Harting began his career as an intern strength and conditioning coach at Shippensburg University, where he primarily worked with the football, men's basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball teams.
Harting graduated with his bachelor's in exercise science from Shippensburg in 2018 before earning his master's from California University of Pennsylvania in 2022.
