THE McDONNELL FILE: Very athletic post player who was the surprise of the 2012-13 preseason • Virtually unrecruited in high school but stepped into the starting lineup immediately • Shot-blocker, rebounder who alters as many shots as he blocks • Possesses good hands.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Appeared in 4 games • Averaged 1.5 ppg and 0.8 rpg • Season-highs of four points and two assists in a 73-45 win against Mount Ida (12/1).  

AS A FRESHMAN: Saw action in 25 games with 18 starts • Northeast-10 Conference Fall 2012 Commissioner’s Honor Roll • Averaged 2.1 ppg and 2.9 rpg • Season-highs include eight points in a season-opening 63-50 win over Bentley; nine rebounds in a 71-68 victory over Le Moyne; three blocked shots in a 69-60 loss to Saint Michael’s and an 80-65 loss to Saint Anselm.
 
BRIDGTON ACADEMY: Played a postgraduate year at Bridgton Academy for Coach Whit Lesure • Previously a former standout at Joseph Case H.S. for coach Tim Plante • Captain as a senior at Joseph Case H.S. • Also a member of the golf team.

PERSONAL: Son of Marianne and Mark McDonnell of Swansea, Mass. • Lists Boston Celtics and New England Patriots as favorite sports teams • Lists catching his first lob pass for a dunk as greatest sports moment • Aspires to play professionally in Europe following graduation. • Majoring in liberal arts.
