Elizabeth Noel serves as the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Enrichment at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she provides personalized academic advising and comprehensive support to the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as students with disabilities and at-risk populations. Elizabeth plays a key role in fostering an environment that prioritizes academic success while also helping students successfully navigate the challenges of balancing rigorous academic and athletic commitments. She oversees tutoring services and cultivates a learning-centered culture that empowers all students to thrive academically.
With over three decades of experience in special education, student services, and crisis intervention, Elizabeth brings a wealth of expertise to her work, ensuring that student-athletes receive holistic and tailored support. Elizabeth holds a Bachelors in Psychology and a Master’s degree in English as a Second Language. She is a certified Master Level Trainer with the Crisis Prevention Institute, Life Space Crisis Intervention, Huddle Up, and Adult Mental Health First Aid, among other specialized credentials. Her diverse background includes leadership roles as a Special Education Director, Behavior Specialist, and Crisis Intervention Trainer, alongside her work in developing innovative programs for students with autism and other disabilities.
A proud UMass Lowell alumna, Elizabeth’s connection to the university runs deep. She is a true triple River Hawk—having earned her degree at UMass Lowell, served as a Resident Advisor and Resident Director in Residence Life, and now as the proud parent of a UMass Lowell alumni. Her firsthand experience as a student and in-residence life gives her a unique understanding of the challenges UMass Lowell students face, both in and out of the classroom. This allows Elizabeth to offer a personalized, empathetic approach to student-athlete support, ensuring they receive the resources they need to succeed.
Elizabeth’s commitment to student success has earned her several prestigious honors, including the "Staff Member of the Year Award" and "Program of the Year Award" for her outstanding contributions in Residence Life. She has also served as a former Resident Advisor of Leitch Hall and the Resident Director of Eames Hall. A champion for student well-being, she co-advised the Substance Education Program and Wellness Program on campus, providing leadership that promoted healthy living and overall student wellness. She is currently involved in several committees, including those dedicated to supporting multilingual students and promoting campus safety. In addition, she received the Parent Involvement in Education Award from New Hampshire, further highlighting her dedication to fostering positive relationships
Driven by a passion for empowering students to reach their full potential, Elizabeth remains steadfast in her mission to ensure that UMass Lowell student-athletes have the academic support, personal care, and resources necessary to excel. Through her leadership, she continues to make a significant, lasting impact on the UMass Lowell community, positively influencing the lives of students, parents, and the broader campus community.
Originally from Dracut, Massachusetts, Elizabeth now resides in Salem, NH, with Kevin. They take great pride in their four grown children: Cameron, Connor, Travis, and Justin. When she is not avidly cheering for the River Hawks, Elizabeth enjoys spending time at their second home in Dunedin, Florida.
