Biography

(1988) - The finest sprint freestyler in school history, Bob Blacker was selected for the Athletic Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. he and teammate Don Jensen are the third and fourth members of the swimming program to be elected two the Hall of Fame. Bob held the school record for the 50-(21.34) and 100-yard (46.45) freestyle events. At one time he also held the 200-yard record. A dominating freestyler, Bob help the top ten times in the 50- and 100-yard events and has five of the top ten times in the 200-yard freestyle. The New England Intercollegiate Swimming Association (NEISA) champion in the 50-yard freestyle as a sophomore (1979-80), Bob was an All-American in the 100-yard freestyle and New England champion in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard as a junior (1980-81). After electing not to compete during the 1981-82 season, Bob was the New England champion in the 100-yard freestyle, second in the 50-yard freestyle, and part of the winning 400-yard medley relay a fifth-year senior (1982-83). he earned All-American honors in the 100-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relay swimming the freestyle leg.
