Biography

Elizabeth Paige Fierman, a native of Glastonbury, Conn., joined the River Hawks staff as the Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations in June 2009. She is the primary contact for the men[apos]s basketball, softball and National Champion field hockey programs at UMass Lowell and also works with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Fierman graduated Cum Laude from Boston University[apos]s College of Communication in May 2008. She received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a minor in American Studies and a concentration in Public Relations. Fierman spent three years as an athletic communications student assistant for Boston Univeristy athletics. During her time at BU, she wrote for game programs, media guides and press releases, organized community relations projects and assisted with game day operations for many Terrier teams. While at BU she spent her senior year as a team manager for the nationally-ranked men[apos]s ice hockey team, assisting with game night statistics, daily practices and travel coordination. She was also inducted into the University[apos]s Scarlet Key Society for service to the University and extracurricular involvement and awarded the College of Communication[apos]s Blue Chip Award for promise in the industry of communications. After graduation, Fierman spent the 2008-09 year as the Hockey East Association[apos]s Graduate Intern assisting with day-to-day operations of the league office. She coordinated credentials for clinics, meetings and tournaments, as well as organized travel for league officials. She wrote weekly press releases and helped create the league media guide. Additionally, she was a site point person for philanthropy events associated with the Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative. Fierman has also worked as a post-season media relations runner for the Boston Red Sox during the 2007 and 2008 playoffs, as well as as a production assistant for Denis Leary[apos]s [quote]Comics Come Home[quote] to benefit the Cam Neely Center for Cancer Care from 2005 to 2009. Fierman currently resides in Lowell.
