Eric Allen, a native of Lewiston, ME, was named the assistant athletic director for external affairs on Sept. 2, 2007.
Allen arrived at UMass Lowell following five years as the director of athletic development and marketing at Merrimack College. Previously, he served as the director of game day ticket and corporate marketing operations for the American Hockey League`s Portland Pirates in Portland, ME.
He was also the manager of membership development at USA Hockey in Colorado Springs, CO, and began his career as an intern at the USA Triathlon Association, also in Colorado Springs.
Allen is responsible for directing and managing a comprehensive external affairs program which includes coordination of all fundraising and solicitation activities for the intercollegiate athletics program; ticket sales and distribution; coordination of the University[apos]s licensing program; and the selling of advertising and sponsorships to support all athletic programs.
While at Merrimack, Allen was responsible for corporate sponsor development and relations and was an integral part of raising revenue for the Warrior athletic department. Allen also assisted in several other areas of the department, including Warrior camps as well as the `M[apos] Club and the inaugural Merrimack Athletic Department Golf Tournament.
A 1996 graduate of Springfield College, Allen earned his bachelor of science degree in sports management and moved on to receive his master[apos]s degree in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1999.
Allen resides in Chelmsford with his wife Amy and two sons, Dean and Lukas.
