Biography

PROFILE: Expected to return to first base, but will also see innings at third • Provides power from the left side of the plate • Very disciplined batter, forces pitchers to work • Majoring in business administration. AS A SENIOR: One of only two players to start all 45 games for the Riverhawks • Named to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll twice • Batted .293 with 22 RBI and 19 runs • Highlights include a grand slam in a 10-9 loss at Dowling • Also went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs and a stolen base versus Southern New Hampshire (7-3). AS A JUNIOR: One of four players to start all 50 games • Hampered by shoulder problems but still chipped in 31 RBI and 23 runs • Named to NE-10 Weekly Honor roll once • Ranked among NE-10 leaders in sacrifice flies (tied for third, 5) and hit by pitch (ninth, 10) • Highlights include a 3-for-4 effort in an 11-7 loss at Barry, in whch he drove in four runs behind a double and solo home run • Also went 4-for-5 (two RBI, run) in a 7-4 win at Bentley. AS A SOPHOMORE: Northeast-10 Conference Second Team all-star • Ranked among NE-10 leaders in batting (15th, .325) • NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll once • Highlights include a 3 for 4 effort with one run and one RBI in a 6-3 win over Adelphi; two RBI seven times • Enjoyed 15 multiple-hit games. AS A FRESHMAN: Northeast-10 Conference Second Team all-star, one of three freshmen named to the second team • Immediate impact player at both third base and designated hitter • Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week once • Finished the year second among River Hawks and ranked ninth in the NE-10 in batting with a .341 average • Highlights include a 4 for 6 effort with two runs and two RBI in an 11-6 win at Eckerd • Drove in a season-high three runs in a 14-1 win over Saint Rose. HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year player at Berlin H.S. for coach Dan Brigham • 2005 New Hampshire Class M Player of the Year • Batted over .600 • Three-time all-state standout: honorable mention as a sophomore, first team as a junior and senior • Conference player of the year as a senior • Also a hockey player • Named captain as a junior and senior • Member of BHS National Honor Society. PERSONAL: Born Dec. 31, 1986 • Oldest of two sons of Russell and Edwina Keene of Berlin, NH • Lists Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins as favorite professional teams • Favorite players include Nomar Garciaparra.
