Ryan Smach

Ryan Smach is entering his third year at UMass Lowell in 2023-24. He currently works with the baseball, men’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse teams; alongside overseeing the day-to-day operations of the student-athlete refueling station.  Smach joined the River Hawks from Nova Southeastern University, where he served in the role of Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. 

While at Nova Southeastern, Smach led the strength and conditioning efforts for the men’s soccer, track and field, cross county, women’s tennis and softball teams, as well as assisting with the baseball strength and conditioning program. Additionally, Smach was the coordinator for the strength and conditioning internship program at Nova Southeastern.
 
Prior to his time at NSU, Smach completed several strength and conditioning internships, including stints at Minnesota, South Carolina, and Syracuse among others.

Smach has received two master’s degrees from Nova Southeastern (MS Health Science and MS Sports Science), which is also where he received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science. He holds certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Sports Nutritionist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist. Lastly, Smach is currently pursuing a PhD in Health and Human Performance from Concordia University-Chicago, expecting to graduate in 2026.
