The former pitcher at Lafayette College enters his second season with the River Hawks, and will take over the responsibilities of pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
McGrath comes to Lowell after performing at the scouting director for the Prep Baseball Report in New Jersey. He spent his time scouting and evaluating amateur prospects in the the Garden State, and organizing prospect events.
The Lyndhurst, N.J. native held the position of pitching coach/recruiting coordinator at Iona College from December 2012-November 2015, handling the day-to-day operations of the pitching staff and leading the on-and off-campus recruiting efforts. In his time, the pitching staff improved its win total each season, going from eight to 20 in 2015. McGrath coached and developed 2015 fourth round draft pick Mariano Rivera into the 2015 MAAC Conference Player of the Year.
McGrath graduated from Lafayette in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in government and law, and ranks in the top-10 in all-time saves and appearances. Post graduation, he played for the McAllen Thunder of the North American League in 2012.
