The UMass Lowell men’s basketball team embarked on its first ever international trip when the squad traveled to Italy for a 10-day exhibition tour from August 17-27. The River Hawks’ tour not only included stops at many of the major Italian landmarks and historical sites, but three exhibition games against professional international opponents, as well. The journey began in Italy’s capital city of Rome and continued north for scheduled stops in Florence, Siena and Lucca, all of which are situated in the country’s Tuscany region. The team then traveled south to Catania on the coast of the island of Sicily to spend the remainder of the trip.
