About Ruben Sanca
A member of the UMass Lowell cross country and track and field teams from 2005-2010, Ruben Sanca will represent Cape Verde at the London 2012 Olympics, where he will run the 5,000 meters on Aug. 8. Sanca was a four-time All-American and one of the greatest distance runners in UMass Lowell history (see resume), and has moved on to run in several international competitions and regional races.
Sanca hails from the Cape Verde island of Sal and immigrated to Boston at age 12. He attended the John D. O'Bryant School of Math & Science and moved on to UMass Lowell where he enjoyed a magnificent career while earning his undergraduate degree in business administration in 2009 and his MBA in 2010.
Sanca is currently the business manager of UMass Lowell's Office of Student Affairs and resides in Dracut, Mass.
