Men's Cross Country Tabbed No. 1 in 2026 Preseason Poll, Women Picked Fourth

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's cross country team has been picked first in the 2026 America East Cross Country Preseason Poll, while the women were selected fourth, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.Â
The men are coming off their sixth consecutive conference title, and totaled 64 points and all eight first place votes in the poll as they look to continue their historic run. Binghamton was selected second with 54 points and a first place vote, and UMBC rounded out the top three with 49 points.
As for the women, they are looking to get back to their winning ways after finishing fifth last season. From 2020-2022, the squad won three consecutive conference championships.Â
The squad earned 41 points for fourth in the poll, just shy of Bryant in third with 42 points and a first place vote. Binghamton was selected second with 53 points while last season's conference champion, Maine, collected 63 points and seven first place votes to sit atop the 2026 America East Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll.
The men's and women's teams will kickoff the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 at Vermont at Hard'Ack Recreation Area in St. Albans, Vt.Â
