
Duo of River Hawks Turn in Strong Showing On Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Two UMass Lowell men's track and field runners traveled to Philadelphia to take on the Penn Relays, surrounded by stiff competition on Thursday evening. Â
Senior Ethan Mashtare (St. Albans, Vt.) got the night started in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing 33rd out of 35 runners with a 9:11.65 mark, before freshman Will Conklin (Danvers, Mass.) smashed his personal record in the 5,000m run by earning a time of 14:39.32 for 52nd place out of 60 runners.
Tomorrow, the majority of the team will compete at the Wildcat Invitational at New Hampshire, while a sprint medley team will return to race at the Penn Relays.Â
