River Hawks Set for Spring Break Road Swing at Towson and Washington, D.C.

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team heads to Maryland and Washington, D.C. for a full week of competition during spring break. The River Hawks will begin the trip at the Towson Tiger Invite from Friday through Sunday, facing Towson, Central Connecticut State and Coppin State across five games. Lowell will remain in the D.C. area following the tournament for a midweek matchup at George Washington on Tuesday before wrapping up the road swing with a doubleheader at George Mason on Wednesday.

Series History
UMass Lowell holds a 1–0 all-time record against Towson after earning a 10–0 run-rule victory in six innings during the 2024 season. The River Hawks have also seen success against Coppin State, picking up a 10–2 win in the program's only meeting in 2014.

Lowell has more history with Central Connecticut State, where the Blue Devils hold a 7–3 edge in the all-time series. However, the River Hawks enter the weekend with momentum after winning the last three matchups in New Britain.

Tuesday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between UMass Lowell and George Washington. Lowell has previously split its only meetings with George Mason, earning a 5–3 extra-inning victory in the opener of a doubleheader between the teams in 2024.

Kaci Benton leads the offense with a .500 batting average, 30 hits and five home runs, while Addie Ferguson is hitting .405 with five homers and 22 RBI. Scouting the Blue Devils (Central Connecticut State)
Central Connecticut State enters the weekend batting .294 as a team with 45 hits through its first five games. Grace Lawton leads the lineup with a .579 batting average and two home runs, while Ashlyn Desaulniers has added two home runs and three doubles early in the season. Scouting the Eagles (Coppin State)
Coppin State holds a 1-3 record entering the weekend and is hitting .232 as a team through its opening games. Julianna Mejia leads the offense with a .417 batting average, while Aniyah Haley has driven in five runs and added a home run. George Washington enters the midweek matchup with a 9-5 overall record and a .266 team batting average through its first 14 games. Paige Hayward leads the lineup at .366 with eight doubles, while Ashley Corpuz has added two home runs and nine RBI. Scouting the Patriots (George Mason)
George Mason enters the doubleheader with a 6-9 record while batting .249 as a team through its first 15 games. Kaleigh Friend leads the offense with a .526 average in limited appearances, while Tess Altevers Harris is hitting .391 with 18 hits and eight stolen bases. Logan Pickford provides power in the lineup with four home runs and 12 RBI. In the circle, Alyssa Rangel owns a 2.96 ERA and leads the staff with 24 strikeouts.
