BOSTON – UMass Lowell softball's Olivia DeCitise (Troy, N.Y.) and Ella Van Alstyne (Beacon Falls, Conn.) earned America East weekly honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. DeCitise was named Co-Pitcher of the Week, while Van Alstyne was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
DeCitise turned in a historic performance in the circle, highlighted by a perfect game in a 6-0 win at Merrimack on March 25. She retired all 21 batters she faced and struck out 11 in the complete-game shutout, marking the program's first perfect game since 2019 and the first by an America East pitcher since 2023.
For the week, DeCitise totaled 18.0 innings with 22 strikeouts, two complete games and a 2.72 ERA. She also made an impact at the plate, hitting the first home run of her collegiate career in a 4-3 win at UAlbany on March 29.
Freshman Ella Van Alstyne made an impact both in the circle and at the plate to earn her first America East Rookie of the Week honor. Offensively, she hit .429 (6-for-14) with a double, a triple and two RBI across five games.
In the circle, Van Alstyne picked up the first two wins of her collegiate career, going 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA in 8.2 innings of work. She struck out eight and allowed just two runs during the week.
The honor marks the third America East Pitcher of the Week accolade of the season for DeCitise and the first weekly award of Van Alstyne's career.
