LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's track and field team split up and competed at both the UMass Lowell D'Amour Invitational and Raleigh Relays on Friday afternoon.
In Raleigh, sophomore
Michael Fisher (Wallingford, Conn.) was the only male to compete on Friday and he ran well, finishing in 25
th place out of 126 runners in the 400m with a 47.76 mark.
"Mike picked up right where he left off indoors with an excellent opening 400m," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "It was another good day."
Back in Lowell, the 4x100 relay kicked it off, and the team of sophomore
Dmitrius Shearrion (Taunton, Mass.), sophomore
Iyanuoluwapo Omisore (Lagos, Nigeria), senior
Tristan O'Riorden and junior
Evan Imasogie (Lowell, Mass.) earned the victory with a 41.45 mark. Another team of River Hawks that included junior
Brandon Riley (Weymouth, Mass.), sophomore
Michael Gyimah (Kumasi, Ghana), senior
Brett Earle (Baldwinville, Mass.) and junior
Daniel Kennedy (Tolland, Conn.) finished just behind them in second place with a 42.03 mark. A third team of junior
Anthony Massari (Dumont, N.J.), senior
Alejandro Lynch (Somerville, Mass.), sophomore
Cyprian Ojatabu (Ojoto, Nigeria) and junior
Nidlaire Olivier (Lowell, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 42.46.
The 110m hurdles were next, with Riley finishing third to lead the team with a 15.67 mark. The 1,500m followed that, as freshman
Joshua Toth warned the victory with a 4:00.66 mark, before graduate student
Landen Vaillancourt (New Ipswich, N.H.) finished third with a 4:02.82 mark. Juniors
David McKinnon (Bloomsbury, N.J.) and
Pedro Mayol (Lincoln, R.I) claimed fifth and sixth place, respectively, earning times of 4:03.62 and 4:08.71, before sophomores
Tyler Rothrock (Allentown, Pa.) and
Dante Castellano (Nashua, N.H.) rounded out the top 10 with 4:10.35 and 4:11.34 marks.
In the 100m dash, Kennedy picked up the win with a 10.75 mark, while Omisore was not far behind in third place with a time of 10.88. Imasogie (6
th, 10.95), Shearrion (8
th, 11.01) and Gyimah (9
th, 11.02). Ojatabu led the team in the 400m, finishing sixth with a 51.51 mark, before Earle claimed ninth with a 52.16 mark and freshman
Raymond Dafe (Lowell, Mass.) finished 10
th in 52.18.
The 400m hurdles followed the 400m run, and Lynch hurdled to victory with a time of 54.22, just before O'Riorden crossed in second with a 55.05 mark. This led to the 200m dash, where Massari finished in first place with a 22.38 mark and Shearrion was just behind him with a 22.61 mark for second. Another victory came next in the 3,000m, and it was sophomore
Tyler Young (Marion, Mass.), who finished with a time of 8:45.89, before sophomore
Jamie Lano (Strafford, N.H.) claimed second with a time of 8:47.82. Three more River Hawks finished within the top 10, including freshman
JJ Rooney (Danvers, Mass.) (4
th, 8:56.01), senior
Frederick Coleman (Methuen, Mass.) (8

The 4x400m relay closed out the running events for the day, and the River Hawks finished second with the team of freshman
Abdul Jalloh (Lowell, Mass.), Rothrock, Dafe and Lynch earning a time of 3:24.47.
In the field events, freshman
Kevin Vigneault got it started with a fourth-place performance in the hammer throw, reaching 47.90m. In the javelin, freshman
Jacob Tucker hit 51.76m for second place overall, while graduate student
Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) finished fifth with a 47.92 mark.
The men found success in the shot put, taking the top three spots. Freshman Kenneth Kalvinek (Sutton, Mass.) earned the win (15.39m), followed by freshman
Kevin Vigneault (Jamesville, N.Y.) in second (14.71m) and senior
Mukanya Kazadi (Woburn, Mass.) in the number three spot (14.48m). Graduate student
Ian Camerato (Mount Laurel, N.J.) also competed, tossing his way to fifth place (14.08m).
Sophomore
Camren Allain (Carver, Mass.) snagged another victory for the River Hawks, winning the high jump with a 2.00m mark, while freshman
Rere Edokpolo (Manchester, N.H.) followed that up with a win of his own in the long jump and 6.58m mark. Finally, the field events concluded with a victory from Camerato and 47.19m toss. Kalvinek was just behind him in second with a 45.67m mark, while senior
Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) claimed seventh with a 41.44m mark.
