LOWELL, Mass. – Graduate student Jay Ahearn (Staten Island, N.Y.) of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team has signed with the Indy Fuel, the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, as announced by the organization on Wednesday, March 18.
A graduate transfer from Niagara, Ahearn spent one season with the River Hawks, immediately establishing himself as a leader and serving as team captain. He finished the 2025-26 campaign with 13 goals and six assists for 19 points, ranking second on the team in goals and tied for fourth in total points.
Prior to UMass Lowell, Ahearn spent four seasons at Niagara, appearing in three, where he totaled 36 goals and 46 assists for 82 points in 87 games played. He concludes his collegiate career with 101 points on 49 goals and 52 assists.
