River Hawks Head to Boston for Round Robin at BU

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team continues its spring break stretch this weekend with a round robin at Boston University. The River Hawks will face the host Terriers and Brown across four games at BU Softball Field.

Series History
UMass Lowell and Boston University have met 15 times previously, with the Terriers holding a 14–1 edge in the all-time series. Lowell's lone victory in the matchup came on April 18, 2017, when the River Hawks earned a 4–2 win in nine innings.

The teams have split their previous meetings between Lowell and Boston, with eight games played at UMass Lowell and seven at BU.

This weekend will also mark the first-ever meetings between UMass Lowell and Brown.

Last Time Out
The River Hawks enter the weekend following a tightly contested midweek set in Virginia. Lowell dropped a pair of narrow games at George Mason, falling 2–1 in nine innings in the opener before a 1–0 decision in the second game of the doubleheader.

Earlier in the trip, the River Hawks defeated George Washington, 3–2, in extra innings to secure their fourth straight victory. Three of those wins came via shutout during the Towson Tiger Invite.


Leading the River Hawks
Elizabeth Neeld has paced the Lowell offense, batting .364 with 16 hits and eight RBI through the first 18 games of the season.

Freshman Julia Rowley has also been a consistent presence in the lineup, hitting .333 with five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI while adding five stolen bases.

As a team, the River Hawks are hitting .259 with 123 hits and 66 RBI across their first 18 contests.

Inside the circle, Olivia DeCitise has led the pitching staff with a 2.29 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 55.0 innings while earning six wins this season.


Scouting the Terriers (BU)
Boston University enters the weekend with a 14–10 record and a .305 team batting average through its first 24 games.

Irys Kline leads the Terriers offensively, batting .371 with 26 hits and 17 RBI, while Kyomi Apalit (.368) and Brooke Deppiesse (.354) have also been key contributors in the lineup.

Kylie Doherty provides power for BU with eight home runs and a team-best .685 slugging percentage.

In the circle, Kasey Ricard has handled the bulk of the workload, posting a 10–5 record with a 4.11 ERA and 95 strikeouts across 92 innings pitched.


Scouting the Bears (Brown)
Brown enters the weekend with a 1–9 overall record and a .217 team batting average through its first 10 games.

Maggie Foxx leads the Bears at the plate, batting .375 with six hits and four RBI, while Elli Thompson is hitting .286 with a double and a home run.

In the circle, Macy Borowski leads the pitching staff with a 6.66 ERA and 24 strikeouts across five starts.
