River Hawks Host Sold-out United In Blue Appreciation Night

LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell Athletics hosted its United in Blue Appreciation Night to thank the department's generous supporters on Saturday, January 24 in the Talon Club at the Tsongas Center prior to puck drop between the River Hawk hockey team and the Maine Black Bears.

"Our annual UIB night is an opportunity for our staff and head coaches to say thank you to our donors for their generous support and friendship," commented Deputy AD for External Relations and Revenue Strategy Eric Allen. "The highlight of the event is always hearing from our student-athletes on how much of an impact our donors make on them and their experience. Cate Kleeman was amazing, and as usual, everyone walked away feeling grateful and proud to be an alumnus or friend of UMass Lowell and great teammates."

The sold-out event featured appetizers, refreshments, and an exclusive opportunity to connect River Hawk donors with coaches and staff.

"I have a lot to be thankful for Lowell," said ice hockey alumnus Kevin Kotyluk '02 in regards to staying involved with UMass Lowell. "They gave me an opportunity a long time ago and it's just kind of my way of saying thank you and trying to give back a little bit."

Speakers at the United in Blue Fund Appreciation Night included Allen, along with Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts and Cate Kleeman, a graduate student on the field hockey team.

"To me it's good to see other people and run into some old friends," Kotyluk added about donor events like the United in Blue Night. "But also to show appreciation for other donors and to say thank you back to the UMass Lowell Athletics, who do a lot for the program and don't get a lot of recognition."Â Â
