Eric Allen, a native of Lewiston, ME, was named the Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs on Sept. 2, 2007, and was later promoted to Associate Athletic Director in the fall of 2013. Allen was further elevated to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Corporate Partnerships & Development in the fall of 2017.
 
Allen arrived at UMass Lowell following five years as the director of athletic development and marketing at Merrimack College where he was responsible for corporate sponsor development - an integral part of revenue generation for the Warrior athletic department. Allen also assisted in other areas of the department, including Warrior camps, the `M' Club and the inaugural Merrimack Athletic Department Golf Tournament. Previously, he held positions at USA Hockey and USA Triathlon Association in Colorado Springs.
 
At UMass Lowell, Allen is responsible for directing and managing a comprehensive external affairs program, which includes oversight of the athletic department’s corporate partnership, ticketing, communications and development programs. Under his watch, the department has experienced unprecedented success in the corporate partnership and ticketing categories with annual revenues over one point five million annually. The hockey team, which plays in the 6,000 seat Tsongas Center, has ranked consistently in the top 15 in the country in attendance for the last decade and has led Hockey East in attendance five times. 
 
UMass Lowell Athletics recently launched their first ever capital campaign in November 2018 with a fundraising goal of $5 million to renovate the Costello Athletic Center. Under Allen’s guidance, the campaign has raised over three million dollars and construction on Phase I of the renovation, completed in the fall of 2021.  In addition to the campaign, the athletic department has led the way in the University’s annual Days of Giving campaign the past three years, bringing in the most athletic donors over a 48 hour period with their recent success in 2022 resulting in over 1,000 donors in 48 hours.
 
Allen is also active in the Greater Lowell area currently serving as the Chair of the Greater Lowell YMCA Board of Directors, a member of the Lowell Boys and Girls Club Holiday Auction Committee and a member of the Chelmsford Youth Hockey Golf Committee.
 
A 1996 graduate of Springfield College, Allen earned his bachelor of science degree in sports management and moved on to receive his master's degree in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1999. A native of Lewiston, Maine he currently resides in Chelmsford, Mass. with his wife, Heather, and his two sons, Dean and Lukas.
