BOSTON – Junior Olivia DeCitise (Troy, N.Y.) has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week following her performance at the Roadrunner Classic. DeCitise concluded the five-game tournament with a 2.28 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 15.1 innings of work.
The River Hawks secured the No. 3 seed for bracket play following a victory over Northern Colorado in pool play. During that contest, DeCitise entered in a relief capacity to retire all four batters she faced, recording three strikeouts to earn her second save of the season.
In the bracket round, DeCitise started against host UTSA and threw an 8.0-inning complete-game victory. She allowed one earned run on three hits while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. DeCitise finished the upset win throwing 91 strikes on 129 total pitches.
The victory advanced UMass Lowell to the championship game against No. 1 seed Stephen F. Austin. Throughout her three appearances in San Antonio, DeCitise held opposing hitters to a .196 batting average. For the season, she has recorded 30 strikeouts in 30.0 innings pitched.
