River Hawks Head to Texas for Roadrunner Classic

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team travels to San Antonio, Texas this weekend for the Roadrunner Classic, hosted by UTSA. The River Hawks will face Stephen F. Austin, UTSA and Northern Colorado before advancing into bracket play.

Tournament Format
Following the three-game opening slate, teams will be seeded for Saturday's semifinals. The No. 1 seed will face the No. 4 seed at 4:30 p.m. ET, while the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds meet at 7 p.m. ET. Sunday features the consolation game at 11:30 a.m. ET and the championship game at 2 p.m. ET.

Series History
The River Hawks will meet Stephen F. Austin and Northern Colorado for the first time in program history. Lowell faced UTSA at last season's Classic, with the Roadrunners holding a 2-0 series edge.

Last Time Out
UMass Lowell is coming off a 2-3 showing at the NMSU/UTEP Invitational. The River Hawks opened the weekend against UT Arlington and New Mexico State before picking up their first win of the season on Saturday with a 10-7 decision over St. Thomas. Lowell wrapped up tournament play on Sunday with a 12-2 run-rule victory against UTEP, recording its highest run total of the year in the finale.

Leading the River Hawks
Freshman Julia Rowley has made an immediate impact, hitting .571 (8-for-14) with three doubles to open her collegiate career. Avery Spinello-Branch has also provided early offense, batting .429 with a team-best eight RBI. Scouting the Ladyjacks (Stephen F. Austin)
Stephen F. Austin is hitting over .300 as a team and averaging nearly nine hits per game. Ellie Vance leads the lineup with a .561 average and 10 RBI. In the circle, Amelia Hatthorn owns a 0.82 ERA, while Crimson Bryant leads the staff in strikeouts as the Ladyjacks have held opponents under a .250 average.

Scouting the Roadrunners (UTSA)
UTSA is hitting .326 as a team with 73 hits through nine games, led by Taryn Madlock (.462) and Samantha Mundine (.400, 8 RBI). In the circle, Arlette Hernandez owns a 3.79 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 27.2 innings, and the Roadrunners' staff has totaled 35 strikeouts across 55.2 innings.

Scouting the Bears (Northern Colorado)
