River Hawks Set To Host New Hampshire and Binghamton

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's basketball team (11-15, 6-5 AE) locks finish its homestand strong as they host the New Hampshire Wildcats on Thursday, February 19, before welcoming the Binghamton Bearcats to town on Saturday, February 21.

A WIN WOULD
A win against the Wildcats would split the season series against New Hampshire while also moving the team to two games over .500 at 7-5 in league play so far.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Angel Montas Jr. totaled 24 points to help the UMass Lowell men's basketball team top Bryant, 88-69, in the first game of a three-game homestand at Kennedy Family Athletic Complex on Feb. 12. Montas Jr. also added a team-high eight rebounds in the contest. Juniors Darrel Yepdo and Xavier Spencer added 22 points apiece, marking a new personal best for Yepdo. As a team, the River Hawks shot 54% and registered a season-high 10 steals.
 
LEADING THE FLOCK
Through 26 games, Austin Green leads the way with 13.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Right behind him, Angel Montas Jr. sits second with 13.6 points per game. Xavier Spencer, who ranks third with 12.0 points per game, adds a team-high 32 steals, while Shawn Simmons II boasts 31 blocks to sit first on the team. Darrel Yepdo, the team's primary playmaker, totals a team-leading 81 assists on the season.

COMING IN HOT
After logging just two double-digit scoring games in his first 10 outings this season, Angel Montas Jr. has been on fire as of late, averaging 20.6 points in the next 13 games. He has scored at least 20 points seven times in the last 13 games and his 30 points against Maine marked a new career high. He has now won two America East Player of the Week awards.
 
HAVING HIS MOMENT
Victor Okojie registered a personal-best 22 points and 11 rebounds to log his second career double-double at UAlbany on Feb. 7. This performance marked his second straight double-digit rebound performance and his fourth of the year. For his efforts, he was named America East Rookie of the Week.

CONTROLLING THE GLASS
The River Hawks outrebounded Maine, 46-11, on Jan. 31, not allowing the opposition to reach double-digit rebounds until well into the second half. UMass Lowell currently leads the America East with a +5.0 rebounding margin.
 
SHARP SHOOTERS
The River Hawks shot a conference-season best 58% from the field against Maine on Jan. 31. The team is now ranked third in the America East for field goal percentage.
 
SPREADING THE LOVE
The River Hawks have boasted at least four double-digit scorers on 12 occasions this year. Most recently, the team had four players score 10+ points at UAlbany on February 7.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
Kennedy Family Athletic Complex, formerly Costello Athletic Center, has been very kind to the home team during the last three seasons, as the River Hawks are currently 48-8 in the building since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, including 7-3 in 2025-26.
