NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team finished fourth as a team at the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday afternoon, closing out the regular season as the last meet before the America East Cross Country Championship.
"Both teams ran outstanding," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "It was great to see the kids finishing up their season with almost all personal bests. The kids were rested and peaked perfectly for this race, which gives us a lot of confidence heading into next week for conference for the kids that have been following the same program."
The leading River Hawk runner was junior Haley Evans (Glastonbury, Conn.), who claimed 16th place out of 69 runners with a personal-best time of 10:23.0, while senior Emily Burdick (Billerica, Mass.) finished just behind her with a 10:39.9 mark for 22nd. Next was a consecutive trio of personal records as sophomore Addyson Hunt (Wilmington, Mass.) (10:42.3), junior Brenna Corcoran (Haverhill, Mass.) (10:43.8) and senior Lena Takahashi (Holden, Mass.) (10:44.2) finished in 25th, 26th and 27th place. Senior Emma Eagan (Danvers, Mass.) was just behind them in 29th place with a personal record of her own at 10:44.5.
Two River Hawks, graduate student Julie Condon (Marshfield, Mass.) and junior Isabel McIntyre (Dover, N.H.), finished back-to-back in 31st and 32nd place, as Condon ran a time of 10:47.2 and McIntyre hit a personal-best with a 10:48.0 mark.
