LOWELL, Mass. – The roadmap for 2026 is set. UMass Lowell Softball Head Coach Jen Starek officially unveiled the upcoming schedule, with the River Hawks set to debut on Friday, Feb. 6 against UT Arlington at the UTEP Invitational
"We are incredibly excited to get out there and start competing," commented Starek. "We have a team with a lot of depth and talent, and we can't wait to see them in action."
The River Hawks start the year with a heavy dose of travel, playing the first month on the road. The opening weekend features five games at the UTEP Invitational (Feb. 6-8), splitting time between Las Cruces, N.M. and El Paso, Texas against UT Arlington, New Mexico State, St. Thomas, Utah Valley, and UTEP. The team returns to Texas later in the month for the UTSA Invitational (Feb. 20-22) in San Antonio to face Stephen F. Austin, Northern Colorado, and UTSA.
March brings the squad to the Mid-Atlantic for the DeMarini Tiger Clash (Mar. 6-8) in Towson, Md., followed by a D.C.-area swing to face George Washington and George Mason on back-to-back days. The team returns to New England for the BU Invitational (Mar. 14-15) before a mid-week matchup at local rival Merrimack.
River View Field opens its doors on Saturday, Mar. 21, as the River Hawks host Maine to kick off America East play.
Following a mid-week trip to Amherst to face UMass on March 24, the conference schedule picks up intensity. UMass Lowell travels to UAlbany (Mar. 28-29) before returning home to host Bryant (Apr. 3-4).
Non-conference play is sprinkled throughout the spring, including home doubleheaders against Sacred Heart (Mar. 31) and Holy Cross (Apr. 14), and road trips to Rhode Island (Apr. 7) and Stonehill (Apr. 22).
The River Hawks will see plenty of Maine and UAlbany this season; in addition to the early series, the team travels to Orono (Apr. 11-12) and hosts the Great Danes at home (Apr. 25-26) to close out the month. A home series against UMBC is set for Apr. 18-19.
The regular season concludes on the road with a three-game set at Binghamton (May 1-2). The America East Tournament will be hosted by Maine from May 6-9.
