LOWELL, Mass. — UMass Lowell Baseball Head Coach Nick Barese has announced the promotion of Dan Cellucci to associate head coach, acknowledging his dedication to the overall recruiting process and player growth upon joining the baseball program's staff in 2024.

"Dan has done an incredible job since joining the staff and has certainly earned this promotion," said Barese. "His impact can be felt up and down our roster from an on and off the field standpoint. I look forward to watching Dan continue to develop our position players and help take our program to the next level."

In his first year at UMass Lowell, Cellucci was a beneficial part to the program's success, as the River Hawks developed seven All-Conference honorees in the 2024 season and advanced to their third-straight postseason appearance.

Cellucci's primary responsibilities at UMass Lowell involve improving and developing the organization, and planning and executing all recruiting operations. He's installed new offensive approaches, helping lead to the improvement for both individual and team development, along with creating advanced scouting reports when necessary.

Acting as the positions coach for the infielders, Cellucci managed the growth and development for those players, while also focusing on the in-game management of the defense.

"I am thrilled to continue working with this group of guys every single day in Lowell," said Cellucci. "The future is so bright here, and being able to contribute to the development and growth of these student-athletes, this program, and this University is an honor and a privilege. I could not be more thankful."

Before joining UMass Lowell Athletics, Cellucci worked as an assistant baseball coach at Fairfield University from 2022 to 2024. He was able to get a better understanding of the layout and schedule of a collegiate baseball staff, with one of his priorities involving assisting the associate head coach with establishing strategies and the development for both offense and defense. He also first became attached to the recruiting process during his time with the Stags, as Cellucci was responsible for the recruitment of high school and transfer portal players, both on campus and off.

To begin his career in coaching, Cellucci spent two years as a player development intern with the Boston Red Sox and spent the 2017 season with the Greenville Drive. In 2018, he was promoted to the Red Sox Player Development Complex in Ft. Myers, Fl., where he worked closely with the Boston Red Sox player development staff during the 2018 World Series title run.

Cellucci earned his bachelor's in business administration from Bryant College in 2016 and his master's in sport leadership from Endicott College in 2020.
